The Cultural capital of Singapore : Chinatown

China town as the name says its inspired by Chinese culture and this street has a Buddhist temple at the beginning of the street.

Temple of tooth relic

Besides the temple you will find loads of street shops which sells Singapore souvenirs at a very very reasonable rate. You can combine 3-4 items and get it at mere 4-5 SGD.

From key rings ,fridge magnets ,t shirts, accessories, clothes, home decor items everything literally.this street is  mostly  crowded with tourists and locals for shopping .

Durian

A very fascinating fruit which we discovered in Chinatown.
Well this is a tropical fruit which is imported from Malaysia to Singapore and is loved by most of the citizen there. This fruit looks like jack fruit and so we tried it,

How does durian tastes

Well to be frank the very first bite of this fruit was different never tasted something like this, then later on we liked it, it smells pungent  and be identified from far away.

Due to its overpowering smell, durian has been banned , In Singapore, the fruit is banned across all types of public transportation and even taxis have signs to let you know they refuse to carry passengers transporting the smelly fruit. You have to pay a heavy fine for this offence.

So if you are adventurous enough to taste different fruits the you should give it a try

World’s Best Airport :Changi Airport

We started from Bangalore India at 21:15 IST ( India Standard Time)  indigo flight to reach Singapore at 3:30 am SST ( Singapore Standard Time) with the travel time of 4 hours. Because this was our first time travel to Singapore at night out sleep timings went on a toss. Nevertheless our journey to the magical city was just about to begin so we were damn excited.

Changi airport is decorated with real flowers

We took some rest because we were very tired and we had to adjust with timing of Singapore which is 2.5 hrs ahead IST and 8 hours ahead of GMT ( Greenwich Mean Time). We cant call it jet lag  but we were damn tired because of the journey.

Crayon sketch of Singapore

So there is an interesting activity which you can do when you are heading towards the immigration , there is this area where there are crayons on the desk and embossed stencil and some papers to draw on. Well we loved doing this activity.
TRY IT its fun

How to travel in Singapore

Singapore is good connectivity in terms of transportation whether its MRT (metro service) , bus sevice or Taxi service and as a tourist we never faced an issue travelling to any destination because there were signboards everywhere to guide us.

MRT  ( Mass Rapid Transit) Singapore

MRT Map

The connectivity is superb of MRT and it connects the whole Singapore. The signboards and the map helps a passenger to get to their specific destination.

Bus service

The bus numbers are mentioned on the specific station and the buses have the end destination mentioned on the digital display of the bus.Its easier to have your google maps turned on.

**** you need to have an EZ-link card which is used for both MRT and bus which as a tourist you can apply it online for a Singapore tourist pass which is on an expensive side and mostly for 3 days or you can purchase an EZLink card over the counter at any MRT station, bus interchange, or 7-Eleven in Singapore. The EZLink card costs SGD 15 – SGD 5 covers the cost of the card (and is non-refundable), and SGD 10 is a consumable amount that needs to be “topped up” as the card runs low

Taxi service

Fare description

You can get a taxi in and around all the places and if you wanna book them you can download GRAB which is perfect in choosing your taxi. There are many other taxi services and we used GRAB and was very much satisfied by their services. The best part about the taxi service is they are very genuinely priced and they have their starting rate (flag down) mention outside the taxi which is very helpful.

Singapore the city of beautiful architecture, systematic government, fitness conscious citizen, well connected transportation and delicious food.
